How to Prepare for Your First Sugaring Appointment

How to Prepare for Your First Sugaring Appointment

Trying something new can feel a little intimidating, especially when it comes to body hair removal.

If you've recently decided to try sugaring for the first time or your appointment is coming up soon, having questions is completely normal.

‘‘How long should my hair be?’’
‘‘Will it hurt?’’
‘‘What should I wear?’’

At RAW, we believe feeling informed before your appointment can make a big difference. Knowing what to expect helps you feel more prepared, comfortable, and confident before your first sugaring experience.

Here are some things we recommend knowing before your appointment:

1. Let Your Hair Grow

For your sugaring appointment, we recommend allowing your hair to grow to about the size of a grain of rice.

This length allows the sugar paste to properly grip the hair, helping our artist perform the technique effectively and achieve the best possible results.

If you're unsure whether your hair is ready, don't worry. Our team is always happy to guide you before your appointment.

2. Gently Exfoliate Before Your Appointment

A gentle exfoliation a few days before your appointment can help remove dead skin cells and prepare your skin for sugaring.

However, we do not recommend exfoliating on the same day as your appointment or during the first 72 hours afterward. After sugaring, your skin needs time to rest, and exfoliating too soon may cause unnecessary sensitivity.

3. Skip Heavy Lotions and Oils Before Your Appointment

Clean, product-free skin helps the sugar paste properly adhere to the hair.

Before your appointment, avoid applying heavy lotions, body butters, or oils to the area being treated.

Don't worry! During your appointment, our products and sugaring technique are designed to leave your skin feeling smooth, hydrated, and cared for.

4. Wear Comfortable Clothing

Choosing soft, breathable clothing can help your skin feel more comfortable after your appointment, especially after Brazilian or bikini sugaring.

Loose clothing can help minimize friction and allow your skin to feel relaxed after your service.

5. Don't Be Afraid to Ask Questions

We believe this is one of the most important parts of your experience.

Before, during, and after your appointment, never hesitate to share your questions, concerns, or preferences with us.

Before every first sugaring appointment, our artists begin with a consultation to better understand your skin, your lifestyle, your previous experiences, and your goals.

If you feel nervous or need a pause during your appointment, simply let us know. Our artists are here to guide you, support you, and make your experience as comfortable and welcoming as possible.

6. It's Okay to Feel Nervous

If it's your first Brazilian sugaring appointment, you might be wondering if other people feel nervous too.

The answer is yes.

Almost everyone does.

Trying something new, especially with a more intimate service, can feel vulnerable, and that's completely normal.

At RAW, we focus on creating an environment where you feel respected, comfortable, and cared for. There is no judgment, no pressure, and no need to feel embarrassed. We are here to guide you through every step.

7. If Possible, Give Your Skin Time to Rest

Your self-care ritual doesn't end when you leave your appointment.

If your schedule allows, giving your skin a little extra care afterward can make your experience even better. We recommend avoiding activities that create heat, friction, or excessive sweating, such as intense workouts, saunas, hot tubs, tanning beds, and direct sun exposure.

If you need to continue with your normal day, don't worry… you can. Just be mindful of these recommendations and listen to your skin.

A little extra care goes a long way.

The best appointments aren't about perfection, they're about feeling comfortable, informed, and cared for.

At RAW, we're here to guide you through every step of your sugaring journey, so you can leave feeling confident, comfortable, and happy with your experience.
